Lifestyle: Brathay Day 2

Hey guys

This is day 2 of my time away at Brathay. This post is not as photo heavy.

Are team art project with Freddie's Face on it!
Me at the top of the Harder side of the climbing wall
Are 2nd place

Me and Stacey by the bonfire
Day 2 was a long day we started just before 9 in the macaque finding out what we would be doing through out the day. My team were going to be doing 2 activities that involved either climbing or doing a high ropes course. I did both but these type of activities are all about beating your personal best for a lot of people it was reaching a point on the climbing wall or getting to a certain part around the high ropes course. Mine was more of a time aspects and getting around the course at a good pace.

In between doing the outdoor activity we had a chance as a group to make a art board to show what we had learnt through out the couple of days being at Brathay. We went with the idea of a snakes and ladder board and that through out the time we had main things that happened while being away. We came 2nd WOOP!! out of about 10 teams after that announcement we started the quiz which we didn't do to bad in.

After the quiz we had a bonfire which was lovely to stand next to as it was HOT! after that a couple of people that we had made friends with and played a couple of games of cards.

As you can see that second day was a busy day and had a lot of team work to be done!

Thanks again for reading, Day 3 will be up soon and will show are walk up Tony Cragg which was eventful! Why not leave a comment telling me what you think of are painting or are activities.

Hope to see you soon

Lifestyle: Brathay - Day 1

Hey Guys!

This is my day 1 post from when I spent 3 days at Brathay which is is right next to Amble-side on Lake Windermere. Brathay is a charity that is about changing the life of both children and adults by getting them to try new things and getting people out of their comfort zones. I was given the chance to go along as staff memeber instead of a volunteer this year. Streetgames did a great job this year just like they do every year. It's a bit of a photo heavy post but I wanted you to see this view.
The view
The View from the main building.
Brathay Main Building
The Marque that we spent most of are time in when we weren't doing activities.
People on Lake Windermere
Lake Windermere again
The macaque at night
One of the 2 staff team

As you can see from the photos the view was amazing. Day 1 was all about getting into are teams and getting to know who was in my team. All the teams were named after a famous athlete so my team was Andrew Flintoff the cricketer but we always just called are self Freddie or Flintoff.

As I went along as a staff member instead of a volunteer this year I got the joy of not having to go on the water (not a fan of swimming and lake water) and do the high activities instead. The staff split off into two group (you can see my group above) and was taking to do the pamper pole (leap of faith) and high V's, i'm not going to lie i'm a lover of height so I volunteered to go up first. The pamper post is basically when you climb to the top of a post and there is a small circle on the top for you to stand on then in front of you was a massive bag and to get down you had to try and hit the ball, I really wish I had got some footage of my leap of faith as I felt like a super hero. The staff also had to do a team challenge of having to get everyone through a deflated tyre in the fastest team (my team won of course!!)

The first night we got in to are accommodation (which was a upgrade compared to last year) around 6 and unpacked we were doing activities with are groups til around 9.30/10 which we were then  given the chance to have down time. We got given the chance to either take part in a table tennis tournament or a movie night but me and few other girls decide we were going to play a couple games of cards and watch Made in Chelsea as we were lucky enough to have a TV.

This was my first day and I hope you enjoyed it day 2 should be up tomorrow. Day 2 was a full packed day with lots of activities.

Hope to see you soon

What's in my bag: Activity Week In The Lakes

Hey Guys!

If you follow me on twitter or know me in person you will know that i'm heading up to lake Windermere for 3 days with Streetgames who are a massive organisation that are involved in helping volunteers get the best out of their community. I've been to this event once before and it was the best 3 days of my year. I meet some of the best people from all over the UK and got to spend time with a lot of different people. Anyways I thought I would show you what type of clothes i'll be taking away with me. I'm hopefully going to do a what is in my wash bag as well. So here are the clothes that i'll be taking away with for 3 days.

Most my clothes for the 3 days (I know what your thinking that is tones for 3 days, Just let me explain)
I'm going to explain each section and give you links if I can get them.

Knitwear Jumpers: I have only 2 knitwear jumper in the pile with a hoodie underneath but on to the jumpers, I've had these jumpers that are from Primark for about a year as they just haven't seemed to lost shape. I have a blue one and grey one there both a marl pattern to them, I'm mainly taking these away for the night time when we have free time and get to just be lazy.

Jogger Bottoms & Hat: I really have 3 pairs of pants but i'm wear one on the mini bus so there is a different bag but these 2 jogger bottoms are again from Primark (seeing a pattern here) I have so many pair of these trousers because being a sport coach you need endless pairs plus when running around with kids clothes get wrecked and this week will be no different and at £7 you don't mind them getting dirty.
This hat is my baby, I live in this hat all year round and when we got advised to take a hat. I knew this baby was coming with me, I'm not 100% sure where it's from as it was my sisters who said I could have it. We will be needing a hat as it going to be cold plus we are going to be doing outdoor activities so it good that i'm taking a hat with me.

Super Cosy Tights/ Leggings: If you don't know about these tight then I don't know where you have been, again these are from Primark and are mainly going to be used to put under my joggers just as another of layer to keep me warm.

Cosy Socks: Same as the tights these are them Primark gems that i'm always going back and re-buying them over and over again. These are to put on with my trainers to keep my feet what more could you want from socks.

Short Sleeves/ Vest Tops:  This is where the none Primark items come in. I have got my snow white cat face t-shirt from Romwe which i'm in love with. I also have this Red Pro Fit Nike Top which I've had for years as I've used it for playing sports and coaching in the cold so I know this top will work well when i'm away. Lastly I have a plain white vest top from Primark again this is just throw on on a night or under a jumper on the way.

Long sleeve T-shirt: All 4 of these tops are Primark, there either V necks or round necks. I'm basically taking these because there have long sleeves and they should keep me warm. I wear these all the way through A/W when i'm coaching as it just the best thing to wear when your teaching kids how to kick a football in the cold.

Hoodies/Jumpers: Final section of clothes and this is a mix of a hoodie and jumpers. The hoodie that is in the middle is my coaching jumper that I got from StreetGames and wear to most of my coaching sessions and basically live in tbh. I also have my guns and roses jumper from Primark which is about a year old again (see the pattern of Primark and year old items )and also have my Minnie Mouse jumper from Forever 21 (similar Here), I got this when I went to London in August.

As you can see most of the things i'm taking away are from Primark, these main reason for this is because there basics that are cheap so if they get damaged when I'm away there easy enough to replace. Also I am taking underwear and all the other stuff but didn't think you would want to see all that stuff.

Pink Nike Small Duffle Grip Bag
Bag: This is my Nike duffle bag, I thought I would show you my bag that everything is going in. This was my sister bag but I had one similar and these bags are worth the money for £20 I must have used this every time I've gone away and most likely be buying the bigger version for when I hopefully go to america.

Batman Converse / Nike Running Shoes (Similar Here)
Finally are my shoes;

My Ready To Get Mucky Trainers: These are my adorable Batman Converse, I'm taking these away with me as I don't mind getting these dirty and there basically wrecked anyways so I don't see why I can't wreck them a little bit more.

My Keep Dry Trainers:  If you followed my tumblr blog then you would have seen these little beauties a number of times. I got these from the kids section in start fitness and never regretted buying. That why i'm going to be wearing these on the night times and when we are doing group work as I don't want them to get to dirty.

Anyways that is my what's in my bag: Activity week in the lakes, I hope you enjoyed this type of post. I'm going away again in December for my birthday so if you like this post please leave me a comment or why not just tell me what you think I've missed out on.

Hope to see you soon
Speak to you soon

Lifestyle: Them Goals You Need To Reach

We are getting well in to October and every month I try and give myself some goals for the months and I thought I would tell you about them goals.

Goal 1: Spending Ban
Every month I say i'm going on a spending ban but now that it is only 2/3 months til Christmas and I need money so that is what my spending ban is in aid for. The only things i should be spending money on is bus passes, lunch for work but that will hopefully be it. I'm going to try and keep you up dater every week or at least fortnightly.

Goal 2: Gym
Lately my gym sessions have be a bit here and there but I'm hoping to try and get there at least twice a week. I get my gym sessions free so I don't have to worry about my spending ban.

Goal 3: Blogging
I don't have any blogging pattern at the moment but I would at least like to try and blog twice a week but I would really like to do at least 3 this mainly depends on a number of things like work and life in general.

Well that is my goals for the month. I'll update you with how my goals go at the end of October.

Hope to see you soon.

Lifestyle: That First Graze Box

Hey Guys!

Hows it going? So last week I said to myself 'Melissa why not get a graze box?' and after having a look at the snacks and jumped on the bandwagon and got a box. I had a free code out of a magazine and thought this would be the best time. Well let me show you what I got.

My Graze Box!
This is what the content of my box is.

As you can see the photo above shows what I got in my box. I'm going to tell you about them and give them a rate them like you do on the website. For people who don't know about the rate system on the website you get to decide if you want to 'Bin' or 'Try' a snack and then when you get the snack you decide if you 'Like'  'Love'  or you want to 'Bin' it. I'm going to use that system to rate my snacks.

I was given Fruit seed flapjack, the British barbecue, The inspired by Jaffa cake snack and Toffee Apple.

Snack No: Toffee Apple 'Sticky toffee sauce with granny smith apple slices.' This snack was a bit hit and miss for me. I loved the apple alone I had never had sliced apple like this but the the sauce I was not a fan of at all. I'm not a huge toffee fan to begin with but I did give it a try and was not a fan.
Rate: 'Bin'
This snack is also a source of fiber and is 66 calories.
Snack No2: The British Barbecue 'Rosemary crostini, Mini basil breadsticks, fiery seeds and smoked almonds.' OMG this snack was the nicest snack out of all of these snacks. I loved the different textures of the the bread with the seeds and the barbecue taste is so nice. If i could just get 4 boxes of this I would!
Rate: 'Love'
This snack is a source of at least 2 vitamins and minerals and this snack is part of the graze light range and is only 118 carl

Snack No3: Fruit & seed flapjack 'Rustic rolled oat flapjack with mixed seeds and dried fruits.' This is another snack that I loved, not as much as snack No2 but these were really nice and really easy to eat. I find that some flapjacks can be quite hard to eat but these weren't I wish i could get this in a big size so I can have it with custard.
Rate: 'Love'
This snack is also a source of fibre which is always good to have within your diet.

Snack No4: Inspired by Jaffa Cake 'Roasted hazels, orange infused raisins and dark chocolate buttons.' This snack was not for me at all I don't like Jaffa cakes so I knew I wasn't going to like this but I thought I would give them a go but no I didn't get on with it at all. Your meant to stack them like a sandwich but that didn't work for me it just was not meant to be at all.
Rate: 'Bin'
This is a source of at least two vitamins and mineral and it also a source of fibre.

So that is my first graze box. Have you had a graze box before and have any snacks you think I should get in the future? Also if you know any recipes that i can use to make a big fruit and seed flapjack that would be brilliant!

Thank you for reading, see you soon

Fitness: Look what I'm signing up for!

Unless you were hiding under a rock this weekend you would have heard or knew of someone that was running one of the biggest half marathons. While watching it I thought to myself why could i not do it next year. I was so proud of everyone but most of all the people that i knew like my all coach Mark Oliver who ran the race in 1 hour and 36 minutes (That is one crazy time) and also to 2 young men who were running to raise money for them to be able to go and coach children in poor areas of Brazil. These type of events show the power normal people can have on raising money for charities. So I decided that i would sign up for the reminder service and as soon a i can i'll be hopefully signing up for the great north run.

So below is a picture of me signing for the reminder service.

Wish me luck even tho it's like a whole year away.

Have you ever ran the great north run or a half marathon? If you have do you have any tips for me?

Hope enjoyed my post
Thanks Melissa xx

Fitness wish list

I thought I would do a wish list and focus it on fitness items as i'm in the mist of training to get motivated for my 5k training.

1. POP Pilates: Total Body Workout DVD - £13.15
2. Run Fat B!tch Run - Amazon Kindle Shop - Ruth Field - £5.99
3. Purple Sports Jogging Gym Armband for New Apple iPod Nano 7th Generation 7G - Ebay - £6.99

All these items are things that I could either really do with or will help me along the way.

1. If you don't know who blogilates is and your trying to lose weight or maybe just tone up you should totally check her out, she does YouTube videos (she is very happy which is always motivating), blog posts and does monthly charts and has her own shop that included this DVD pack and since seeing it on her shop I've been thinking more about buying and seeing if it can motivate me to do other kinds of exercise rather then just running and gym machines.

2. The book is by Ruth Field, this book is about helping to motivate the reader in to running around about 5k to 10k (focusing on beginners, which to be honest i am). I need as much motivation as i can possible get at the moment.

3. This is a item that i'm in total need of as I hate having to carry things while running, I had a one for my iPhone but now that i don't have an iPhone or the old arm band (Little Miss Marshall, youngest sister btw stole it and went home with it), I am in need of a new one and this eBay item looks like it could be the perfect one.

4. Finally item 4 which if you do exercise you will know that a sport bra is a much need accessory and I again have had mine taken away so I need to buy a new one. I have heard from other people at my gym that Adidas is a good brand for sport bras. I wouldn't normally go for something this expensive but as it is an essential I think spending this amount on a good brand and material. Adidas also say that this bra is 'Engineered for reliable support, this Adidas Supernova Racer Bra features CLIMACOOL® for superior moisture management for women. Reflective details make this sports bra a great top for running or working out.'

That is my fitness wishlist for the month. I'm hoping to maybe get at least 2 of these items within the next few weeks as there kind of needed essentials.
What is on your wishlist focusing on fitness essentials

Monday, 6 May 2013

This is the first post of many (that's a pretty scary thought). So i thought i would share a little bit about myself including what i do and what i like.

I thought i would give you 3 of my favorite things to do:

1. My love in life is coaching and fitness and pretty has been all my life from being in school i was always the girl that wanted to take part in every sport going and that developed in to me wanting to be a PE teacher/Coach.

So from deciding what i wanted to be, came the chances of gaining experience to help get me somewhere close to my job choices. I've Volunteered at a bunch of events including the great north run (How people do that i will never know), Great North 10k, Local Heroes (Summer Festival) and a bunch of low key coaching events.

Me & Greg Rutherford at the Great North run last summer
2. Travelling is another one of my favorite things to do with my spare time. This can be travelling within the UK or aboard. I've only been aboard a few time but hoping over the next 2 years to travel through Europe and spend some time in south Africa. The thought of spending time in another country and seeing the way other people lives is something i have always wanted to do.

3. Cooking and Baking it is something I've always wanted to get better at and because i'm training to hopefully do the Great North 5k in the summer i have wanted to eat more healthy types of meals and this includes cooking and trying out new types of food.

This blog will hopefully show you my training for the 5k as well as showing my life along with outfit posts, day in the life of a coach and recipes of meals that i will be trying out to live the healthy lifestyle.

I hope you enjoy learning about me and i hope you like reading my blog on all things fitness and lifestyle.
